Report: Football Players Suffered More Concussions in 2016 Than Athletes of All Other Sports Combined (3:50)

Source: KHON2 News

The University of Hawaii recently conducted a study on head injuries and found that more than 600 head injuries were counted among high school student-athletes last semester. Of those, 321 of those were suffered by football players.

This report attempts to determine why one particular school, Mililani, reported 13 times as many concussions as most smaller programs. The news station determined that program size — Mililani has more than 130 players — was one factor. Another might be style of play. The Mililani coach did not respond to attempts to participate in this story.
