Former Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith took high school coaches to a strip club on recruiting trips, abused a drug and was the subject of a lengthy investigation by the Powell Police Department, according to the investigative report released by Ohio State late Wednesday night.
Investigators discovered that Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer threatened to fire Smith multiple times but never did. And that Meyer has memory issues and sometimes takes medications that impairs his memory.
Those details were contained in the full, 23-page report released by the university late Wednesday night. The report was written by the independent investigative committee formed by university President Michael V. Drake to investigate how Meyer and athletic director Gene Smith handled allegations that Smith was physically abusive to his former wife, Courtney Smith.
