Ohio coach shares culture-building activity, apps that help him win

Robin Miller began teaching middle school physical education at Columbus Academy and serving as the head varsity football coach in 2015. The football program has been on the rise, with two-straight playoff appearances and the roster (5th-12th grades) over doubling in size since he was hired.

He recently joined FNF Coaches for a Q&A.

What is the No. 1 goal for your team this spring?

Maximize our potential.

Share with us one activity that you utilize to reinforce your team’s culture.

Seniors will draft our summer workout teams, and then the four individual teams will work together to bond and compete against the other teams. Points can be earned for just about everything – there’s a job for everyone!

What coaching apps do you use most often?

-Hudl and Skycoach.

If you could snap your fingers and be gifted one new product for your football program, what would it be?

Drone or new headsets.

What is one change you’ve made to your strength and conditioning program in the last year?

A new strength coach who is absolutely fantastic. She helps create specific workouts for individual kids with various needs. We’ve also opened the conversation on that fine line between doing too little and too much in terms of physical workload.
