Michigan coach: Build a culture by having your players ref youth games

Jeffrey Bacholzky is the JV football coach at Almont High (Mich.) He talked about some of his culture-building strategies for his players this spring.

FNF: What is the No. 1 goal for your team this spring?

“We do not have spring football and most of our players play a spring sport, so my No. 1 goal would be for our kids to have a fun and healthy spring sports season without any Covid pauses.”

FNF: Share with us one activity that you utilize to reinforce your team’s culture.

“We have our players officiate for our youth flag football program. Our players love it, the youth players love it, and everyone involved benefits from this and helps build our culture from youth to HS.”

FNF: What coaching apps do you use most often?

“Hudl, PLT4M”

FNF: If you could snap your fingers and be gifted one new product for your football program, what would it be?

“End zone camera system.”

FNF: What is one change you’ve made to your strength and conditioning program in the last year?

“Began using PLT4M to track progress and keep the team on the same page.”

FNF: If you could have a cup of coffee with one football coach (living or deceased) who would it be?

“Tubby Raymond.”
