Longtime Assistant Gets First Head Coaching Job at 52

Dale Creamer was an hour into his drive home after departing Hanson Memorial in Franklin with a job offer in hand to become the school’s new head football coach.

With the chance to become a head coach for the first time, the 52-year-old Creamer considered the merits of the job during his ride with former bosses John Bachman of Calvary Baptist and Thomas David at Opelousas Catholic.

Both coaches agreed Creamer, whose father Doug was a head coach at Coushatta (now Red River) and Leesville, was primed for such a challenge. He promptly pulled his vehicle to the side of the road, called Hanson Principal Kim Adams and accepted her offer.
