Here’s one way to get your players to give you funny looks.

Force them to train with the school dance team. That’s what Los Alamitos High (Calif.) football coach Ray Fenton did, reaching out to the school’s dance instructor, Rikki Jones. The Los Alamitos football team joined the dance team for workout sessions in February in hopes of building flexibility, core strength, and stability.

“I believe in cross-training for the dancers,” said Jones. “We were already doing high intensity interval training, but to have the football players join us encourages the dancers to push themselves even more. I also think it is important that the public understands that dancers are both artists and athletes, and this was a way to make that point.”
