The AFCA is looking into sideline-to-quarterback communication in college football.

The American Football Coaches’ Association is looking into sideline-to-quarterback communication in college football – as well as other technological improvements such as tablets on the sideline.

College football coaches have generally come to an agreement on utilizing headset communication, although the AFCA has had only preliminary discussions with the NFL about how to implement the technology. Utilizing tablets on the sideline, something high school coaches have been doing since 2013, still appears to be years away for college football.

College football has trailed the NFL in terms of new technology, and in this case the sport is behind even high school football.
