Neshaminy High School (Pa.) coach Steve Wilmot has roots in strength training. Prior to becoming a head coach, he served as a strength coach at the high school level.
In this story, he shares his philosophy on strength training, nutrition and sleep. It’s a story that most coaches could find valuable.
His lifting philosophy is based around the Nebraska weightlifting program, which starts with light weights and high reps at the beginning of a cycle and ends with high weights and low reps. Wilmot’s program is a mix of old-school philosophy with new technology. For instance, he has players weigh in each day and tracks sleep for each player.
