Rob Polishook of Inside the Zone wrote a story offering athletes a guide to handling a tough loss. This could be a good reminder for coaches who are preparing to start the regular season this week.
The five tips include:
Allowing the players to feel disappointed.
Informing the players that they are one step closer to becoming the team they want to be.
Sharing that failure offers plenty of opportunities for feedback.
Reframe the loss as a step in the right direction.
Focus on the process, not the outcome.
